Making a Local Difference
Through various donation drives and school sponsortships we are able to give back to the communities that have given so much to us.
Buddy Dog Humane Society
Founded in 1961, “Buddy Dog”, as it is affectionately known is a not for profit animal welfare organization dedicated to finding new homes for homeless dogs and cats. The Society is incorporated with one main objective, “giving a new lease on life to impounded dogs and cats”. Buddy Dog accepts homeless dogs and cats, in good health and of friendly disposition, which could, without our help, be destroyed. These animals find refuge at our shelter and can depend on becoming someone’s forever friend. There is no time limit on their stay.
Concord Youth Theatre
Concord Youth Theatre, Inc., founded in 1976 as Act/Tunes, is a non-profit educational organization committed to making high-quality live theatre accessible, relevant, and memorable for young people and their families. The purpose of Concord Youth Theatre is to enrich the lives of young people by providing opportunities for them to be actively involved in the creative process through participation in a variety of live theatre experiences under the leadership of professionals.
Cradles to Crayons
Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. We supply these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities that have with communities that need. Cradles to Crayons collects new and nearly new children’s items through grassroots community drives and corporate donations. Donations are then processed and packaged by volunteers, and are distributed to disadvantaged children across the state through a collaborative network of social service agencies and school partners.
Give 2 the Troops
Since December 2002, we’ve supported approximately ONE MILLION deployed U.S. troops with loving care packages and letters from all over the nation. This was made possible only with the help of tens of thousands of generous and patriotic friends in the U.S. and abroad. To date, we’ve sent more than 188,000 enormous boxes and more than 40 million letters and cards from caring citizens. This is the least we can do to show our troops how much we care about them. Our troops need to know that we support and appreciate the sacrifices they make for us, our families, and our future. This is about giving back to those who give all.
The Concord Farm and Garden Fair
The Farm and Garden Fair is a weekend celebration of local food: a time to have fun sharing what we know about this land and what grows here–a bit of woo-woo and how-to…a time to learn from, and get to know Concord gardeners, farmers and food entrepreneurs. All of which are fundamental to building a food system that generates environmental, economic, public health and community benefits. The goal is to promote, support and inspire local food growers, build a healthy, humane food system, increase visibility of kitchen, home, community, neighborhood, school gardeners and farmers –and have fun!
5K9 Road Race
In honor of the passing of beloved Concord K9, Charik, we will be holding a 5K run/walk to raise money to buy a bullet proof vest for the new pup, Mikael. The CPD 5K9 is dedicated to K9 Charik (EOW 4/4/14), who was well known to the children of Concord & Carlisle, and always a fan favorite at the annual July 4 Picnic in the Park. Charik was also Officer Toumayan’s “wing dog”, whether patrolling along side his partner in Concord or assisting with the Watertown Manhunt, April 2013.
